DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas warned that the government has to face dire consequences if Teesta Long March to be started from April 22 is obstructed.
He came up with the forewarning while addressing a protest rally at the National Press Club on Monday.
He said, “Our journey will start from Tuesday towards Teesta. It’s a peaceful programme. Awami League men will also join in it. If the government put obstruction to the long march, then it will be resisted.”
Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal organized the rally protesting ongoing conspiracy against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman by the ruling party.
Mirza Abbas claimed: “Not only BNP drinks water, but also Awami League drinks it. So, it will also join in the long march.”
The senior leader of the party said Awami League fears Tarique Rahman as he is enriching himself in London by study.
He further claimed in future Bangladeshi female voters does not cast vote to Joy as he does not like them and married a foreign girl.
Urging party’s leaders and activists, Abbas said, “You must wage movement to bring back Tarique from abroad.”
Earlier, BNP announced a two-day long march of April 22 and 23 to the Teesta River demanding fair sharing of its water between Bangladesh and India.
