SYLHET: Local administrations of Jakiganj, Fenchuganj and Bianibazar Upazillas of the district imposed section 144 Wednesday as local Awami league and Jamaat men convened meetings at the same time at same places.
Jakiganj Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Titon Khisa said section 144 was imposed to prevent untoward unwanted situation. The ban will be enforced from 10:00am to 10:00pm.
Fenchuganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Shahidur Rahman said, “Upazilla administration imposed section 144 as Jamaat and Krishak League convened meetings at same place at same time. Ban will be enforced till evening.”
Besides, Bianibazar Thana Officer-in-Charge ATM Shibli said administration imposed section 144 at the upazilla as Jamaat and Muktijhuddha Kalyan Samity called meetings at the same place.
Sylhet district Police Super Shakhawat Hosain said administration imposed the ban in the upazillas as law and order situation might be deteriorated and police observation is being increased in the areas.
