CHITTAGONG: The Chittagong University authorities suspended Assistant Professor of Statistics Chandan Kumar Poddar arrested on charges of allegedly abusing domestic help.
The university administration took the decision on Monday.
Acting Proctor and student advisor of the university Professor Khan Tawhid Osman told banglanews that Chandan Kumar Poddar was suspended as per the direction from the vice-chancellor.
He also added: “If the allegation is proved he will be sacked.”
Acting Registrar of the university Professor Mohammad Shafiul Alam said, “The university administration has got the copy of allegation. After getting the copy, university administration suspended Poddar.”
The final steps will be taken after finishing the investigation, he added.
On Friday, Khulshi Thana police arrested Chandan Kumar Poddar on charges of abusing a domestic help. Later, on the next day court denied the bail petition and sent him to jail.
