DHAKA: Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) returned to the negative zone on Wednesday after a higher session of turnover value above Tk 300 crore.
DGEN, the benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange lost 22 points to close at 4227 points and DSEX index lost 27 points to close at 4126 points on the day.
A total turnover value stood at Tk 287 crore compared to Tk 341 crore of previous session.
The market operator said following DSE and Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission’s (BSEC) requested some institutional investors return to the investment as a result on Tuesday turnover value went above Tk 300 crore.
But, retail investors remained skeptical about market movement.
So, witnessing the positive trend most of the retail investors tried to came out from market by selling shares. As a result the increasing trend of turnover and index did not sustain.
On the day, total 272 issues were traded where 70 advanced, 176 declined and 26 remained unchanged.
On the other hand, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) index lost 84 points to close at 12913 points. A total turnover stood at Tk 36.69 crore.
Of the traded 183 issues, 31 advanced, 132 declined and 20 remained unchanged.
