Smart garment bosses remanded

DHAKA: A Dhaka Court on Wednesday placed Chairman of Smart Garments Zakir Ahmed and Managing Director Sharif Ahmed on a 2-day remand for police interrogation.

Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque granted the remand when police produced him before the court with a 7-day remand plea Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday night, Detective Branch police arrested chairman and managing director (MD) of Smart Export Garment from city’s Dhanmondi.

On January 26, seven female workers were killed and 14 others injured in a fire broke out in Smart Garments Factory in city’s Mohammadpur.

Father of a deceased victim, Jotsna, filed a murder case.
