DHAKA: A total of seven persons, including former state minister for religious affairs Mosharef Hossain Shahjahan and Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee, were charged in a case filed against them for misappropriating money of Islamic Foundation’s zakat fund.
Assistant Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Wazed Ali Gazi Thirsday submitted the charge-sheet to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
ACC branch officer in CMM court Abdur Rashid confirmed this to banglanews.
The other accused of the case are chairman of Moshjid Council for Community Advancement Maulana Abul Kalam Azad alias Bacchu Razakar, former director of Islamic Foundaton Mohammad Lutful Haque, chief editor of Bandhujon Parishad Mia Mohammad Yunus, president of Islami Somaj Kolyan Kendra Tofazzol Hossain and assistant director of Islamic Foundation’s Moshjid Council M Abdul Haque.
A total of 45 persons were made witnesses in the charge-sheet.
On May 25 in 2010, Director of Islamic Foundation Ayub Ali Chowdhury filed the case with Sheer-e-Bangla Thana.
As per the case statement, the accused had manipulated Tk 1.27 crore of the zakat fund of 2005-06 fiscal through abusing power.
