JHENAIDAH: At least 43 people were injured in a clash between two fractions of ruling Awami League over establishing supremacy in Goloknagar village under Shailkupa upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Sub-Inspector of Shailkupa Thana Sultan Ahmed told banglanews that supporters of Awami League leader former member Raihan and incumbent member Abdus Sattar locked into clash in the area around 11:00am, leaving 43 of both sides injured.
The injured were rushed to Jhenaidah, Shailkupa and Kushtia Hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control, he added.
The SI also again said that additional police were deployed to avert any untoward situation and tension was prevailing in the area.
However, no case was filed in this connection, he added.
