Hartal in Rajshahi division Thursday

RAJSHAHI: Jamaat-e-Islami called daylong hartal for Thursday in eight districts of Rajshahi division for not giving permission to stage protest.

A press release signed by Jamaat team member Professor Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter Wednesday.

The release reads- “Jamaar declared to stage countrywide protest on January 30. We also sought permission to stage protest in Rajshahi. The government didn’t give us permission, moreover imposed section 144. As per the decision of district Ameers of Jamaat, we will observe daylong hartal in this division.”

Besides, Shibir is observing hartal in Rajshahi, Natore and Chapainawabganj district demanding release of Shibir leaders Mostafizur Rahman Ashu and Atikur Rahman and restoration of caretaker government.
