No consensus with Jamaat: Gowher

FROM SHAHBAGH: The government Saturday ruled out the speculation of developing any consensus with Jamaat over the war crimes issue.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s International Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi also expressed solidarity with the protesters while visiting Shahbagh intersection in the afternoon.  

In an exclusive interview with banglanews, he talked about the government stance over the ongoing mass movement for capital punishment of war criminals.

The main parts of the interview given as below-

banglanews24.com: Would you think that the mass upsurge of Shahbagh will strengthen the government position over execution of war criminals?

Gowher Rizvi: There is no difference between the people and government over war crimes issue. There might be many opinions but all are at same platform over war criminals trial.

banglanews24.com: It is heard that government made a consensus with Jamaat. What’s your opinion about this?

Gowher Rizvi: Absolutely nonsense. It is a rumor and anti- government forces spreading the propaganda.

banglanews24.com: What will you say on people’s saying ‘Quader Mollah got lower punishment as he committed big crimes during liberation war?

Gowher Rizvi: I should not make any comments in this regard. Because, it is the matter of International Crimes Tribunal and it is independent. But I am with people’s reactions.

banglanews24.com: Foreign media published many news and articles about Bachchu Razakar’s trial in many stances. What about government’s position in this matter?  

Gowher Rizvi: It can be happened. However, the tribunal will run on its own way.
