DHAKA: Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate said the resignation letter of Tanjim Ahmad Sohel Taz MP was not accepted.
The Speaker of the House disclosed the matter while talking to journalists at his office in Parliament Bhaban in the city Wednesday.
On April 23, Awami League lawmaker and former state minister for home Tanjim Ahmad Sohel Taj resigned as parliament member.
Sohel’s additional personal assistant Abu Kawsar sent the resignation letter to the speaker’s office.
Earlier, Sohel Taj, son of country’s first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed, sent a letter to cabinet secretariat asking why a huge amount of money was sent to his account after two and a half years and why no gazette notification on his resignation was issued.
On June 1 in 2009, the lawmaker stepped down as state minister for home affairs after five months of his appointment to the job.
