DHAKA: Mobile-phone operator Robi Axiata Limited will facilitate Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to share its infrastructure for enhancing radio access network.
An agreement to this effect was signed between Robi and BGB in the city recently.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Robi, Michael Kuehner and Director, Communications of Border Guard Bangladesh Colonel M Nazrul Islam Sarker, afwc, psc signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The director of BGB said this is for the first time BGB has signed any agreement for sharing infrastructure with any mobile operator of the country.
He added: “This will help us to avoid unnecessary site construction hassles and costs.”
Nazrul also stated that the infrastructure sharing deal would also help BGB avoid power loss and electricity related problems.
In his observation, Robi CEO Michael Kuehner mentioned that Robi was happy to be a partner of an important public agency in order to facilitate its communication network.
He said, “This also compliments our support for green concept of lesser infrastructure constructions.”
Among others, Executive Vice President of CRL Mahmudur Rahman and Vice President, Corporate Strategy, Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui along with other Robi officials were present at the signing ceremony.
