A rendezvous of photographers in city

DHAKA: The seventh edition of ‘Chobi Mela’, a rendezvous of world photographers, will begin on January 25 in Dhaka.

Based on the theme ‘Fragility’, this year’s festival of photography will be inaugurated at the auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s National Art Gallery in Segun Bagicha.

Latin American photographer Graciela Iturbide will inaugurate the festival at 5:00pm on the day.

Festival director Shahidul Alam will deliver welcome speech while Nii Obodai of Africa, Pablo Bartholomew of Asia, Jody Haines of Australia, Ruth Eichhorn of Europe, and Patrick Witty of North America, among others, will speak at the inaugural session.

The inaugural programme will also feature music performances and award giving ceremony.

Earlier on the day, a rally will be brought out at 3:30pm from Shahbagh to inauguration venue.
