DHAKA: Calling upon opposition BNP to express solidarity with Shahbagh protest, Chhatra Union President SM Shuvo said the Gano Jagaran Moncho’ is open for BNP to build a rajakar-free Bangladesh.
He came up with the assertion while addressing a mass rally demanding death penalty to all war criminals at city’s Jatrabari on Tuesday afternoon.
SM Shuvo said, “I am urging BNP to join our ongoing movement as they are also pro-liberation war party.”
The student leader also said the saints preached Islam by serving humanity not through sword or vandalism.
With a rendition of the national anthem, the grand rally, as a part of ongoing Shahbagh protest demanding death penalty for all war criminals, began at 4:00pm.
Thousands of people from all walks of life gathered at the venue from different parts of the country. Convener of Gano Jagoran Moncho Imran H Sarkar and ‘Agni Konya’ Laki were also present at the rally.
The protesters chanted various slogans including—“Hang War Criminals”.
Shahbagh protesters are staging movement from February 5 demanding death penalty for all war criminals including Jamaat leader Quader Mollah.
