DHAKA: National award-winning filmmaker Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond’s latest film ‘Antardhan’ will be premiered at Basundhara City’s Star Cineplex on Panthapath.
The ceremony will be held at 7:00pm on February 19.
‘Antardhan’ (Disappearance) is based on the lifestyle of the people by the once mighty river Padma. It presents the story of a fisherman family, which was maintained by the resources from the river.
The film shows that with the passes of time the rivers shrinks and like many other fishermen Moyej becomes unemployed.
‘I had a plan to release the movie earlier, but the release in the month of February will be a matter of pride,’ Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond told banglanews24.com hopping that viewers would enjoy the movie.
The director, who received the National Film Awards as the ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Scriptwriter’ for his second film ‘Gangajatra’ in 2009, thinks that the ‘Antardhan’ presents the gradual death of the river Padma and its aftermath with the story of Moyej.
‘It (Antardhan) is a reflection on some past incidents. It raises a question to the people concerning a drop of water,’ he added.
Diamond has so far made 40 television dramas and telefilms and three full length feature films.
His video works uphold the lives of minor ethnic and professional groups, including, Santal, Oraon, Dom, Chamar, weavers, blacksmiths, fishermen, bede and sex-workers.
His debut film ‘Nacholer Rani’ was based on the historic Santal revolution led by Ila Mitra in Nachol.
The film’s countrywide release will be on February 22.
