Stocks slide sharp

DHAKA: Both the country’s two bourses witnessed significant fall in share-price indices on Tuesday.

The DSE general index shed 98 points to stand at 5,070 at the close on the day trading.

The volume of transactions, however, increased to Tk 3,781 million from Monday’s Tk 3,565 million. Trade deals stood at 90,209 against the previous day’s 86,024.

Of the issues traded, 44 advanced, 204 declined and 13 remained unchanged.

LANKABAFIN topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 318 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were GP, CITYBANK, JAMUNAOIL, MPETROLEUM, BEXIMCO, CONFIDCEM, BXPHARMA, TITASGAS and SUMITPOWER.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 9,601 by dropping over 148 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 28 gained, 144 declined and 16 remained unchanged.
