DHAKA: The election commission is yet to decide whether they will appeal against the High Court order that stayed holding election of bifurcated Dhaka City Corporation.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed made the disclosure while talking to journalists after a meeting held at election commission secretariat in the city.
He said, “We have to think whether appeal would freeze the election process and we will take decision in this regard after talking with other election commissioners and advocates.”
Regarding the demarcation the bifurcated DCC, he said, “We will reply to the rule of the court and there is no need of demarcation if the HC is satisfied by our answer.”
The election commissioner added: “We are taking initiative carefully in the procedure of DCCs polls as it is a complex matter.”
