DHAKA: ‘Parabat Express’ on Dhaka-Sylhet route resumed its new journey with new coaches colored with red and green.
Railway Minister Mujibul Haque has inaugurated the train around 6:35am Friday (September 2) and visited a compartment while received warm response from passengers.
Among the 16 coaches of total 719 seats, there are two AC Slipper Coaches with 66 seats, two AC Chairs with 110 seats, a first class with 33 seats, eight Shovan Chairs with 480 seats and two Dinning Car compartments with 30 seats.
The plying of the express was hindered due to the shortage of coaches and there was a huge scarcity of tickets. It is expected that the problem will be solved with the addition of coaches.
The train started its journey in 1986 from Kamalapur Railway Station with 16 Indonesian air break coaches. Some Iranian Coaches had being added in 1995-96 and the coaches altered with vacuum coaches in 2011.
