DHAKA: Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASAD) on Friday called a half-day hartal in Dhaka for February 28 (Tuesday) in protest of the hike of the gas tariff.
CPB in the afternoon issued a press release in this regard.
The release said the hartal will be enforced from 6 am to 12 pm in the capital.
However, the centers of secondary school certificate (SSC) examination and the vehicles carrying the candidates will be out of the hartal purview, the release added.
In a joint statement, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim, and general secretary Syed Abu Jafar Ahmed and BASAD general secretary Khalequzzaman slammed the government for increasing the price of gas.
The leaders also demanded an immediate withdrawal of the price hike and asked the people the make the hartal successful.
