Bus catches fire in Dhaka’s Shahbagh Smoke engulfing the entire area as the blaze went high

DHAKA: A moving bus was in flames in Shahbagh intersection of the capital city during the rush hour of Wednesday noon (December 20).

Fire Service & Civil Defence Duty officer Md Russell told Banglanews that they have sent two firefighting units at the spot.

Shahbagh Police Station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Mizan said that the bus of Midway Paribahan for Khilgaon-Mohammadpur route caught fire before Aziz Supermarket in Shahbagh, at around 12:10pm

The fire originated from mechanic defects of the vehicle, he added.

Atif Molla, 42, driver of the bus, sustained burn injuries to some parts of his hands and legs. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
