DHAKA: Students staging demonstration for road safety came under attack by a group of youths in city’s Jhigatola area on Saturday afternoon (August 4).

Several students were reportedly injured in the clash and admitted to several nearby hospitals in Jhigatola and Dhanmondi areas. 

Eyewitnesses said a group of youths, wearing helmet and carrying sticks, chased the students as they tried to take position on Jigatala road. As the news broke, other protesting students from nearby areas joined to counter chase the attackers. Several people were hurt in clash while all traffic movements halted on the area. 

Huge amount of police personnel were deployed in the area to bring the situation under control.
