Fire guts factory, warehouse in Munshiganj

MUNSHIGANJ: A plastic and wood factory and a pulse warehouse were gutted in the fire, as it happened at the Kamalaghat Port in the Mirkadim municipality of Munshiganj Sadar Upazila.

The fire erupted from plastic factory, owned by Farid Molla, around 12 am on Monday (October 8).

“No one was hurt. Two units brought the fire under control at 1:30 am. Goods were evacuated to safety,” Shafiqul Islam, senior station officer of Munshiganj Fire Service, told Banglanews.

Primarily, an electric short circuit from the plastic factory is believed to be the cause of the fire, Shafiqul Islam added.

Businessmen claimed the damage was estimated at Tk 50 lakhs.
