DHAKA: A 12-year-old boy, a woman and her daughter were injured in a manhole explosion in Jatrabari area of Dhaka Saturday (Feb 9) afternoon.

The injured were identified as Johra Begum, 40, her daughter Nafiza Akter, 12 and a pedestrian Miraz, 12.

They were rescued and whisked-off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The explosion took place on the road before Asia Eye Hospital in Dholaipar.

Injured Johra told Banglanews at DMCH that the manhole blasted all of a sudden while she along with her daughter was standing there.

The three injured, however, were out of danger, said DMCH Police Outpost Duty Officer Bachchu Mia.

Toxic gas buildup at the manhole might have caused the blast, said Fire Service Headquarters Duty Officer Russel Shikder.
