DHAKA: A Dhaka Court placed the editor of Daily Sangram in three days of remand in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Mamunur Rashid passed the remand order on Saturday (December 14).
Daily Sangram’s Abul Asad was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
He was taken to court on Saturday (December 14).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tejgaon Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Biplob Vijay Talukder told Banglanews: “Abul Asad was sent to court after showing him arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.”
The case was filed against Abul Asad for describing the executed war criminal Abdul Quader Molla as a ‘martyr’ on December 12.
According to police, a freedom fighter namely Afzal Hossain filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station.
Earlier on Friday, a few youths under the banner of Muktijuddho Mancha vandalised the office of Jamaat-e-Islami mouthpiece ‘Daily Sangram,’ burned pieces of the daily, demanded arrest of the editor as well as closure of it.
