Dhaka: After the long whistle, players were lapping over the stadium, supporters entered in the field as they shared winning spree as Dhaka Abahani Limited claimed their hat-trick professional league titles of the Citycell Bangladesh League.
Beating Farashganj Sporting Club by 4-0 in the 23rd round, Abahani confirmed the trophy in the third edition of the professional league attaining the highest 67 points with one match to spare at Bangabandhu National Stadium Tuesday.
Their archrival Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club could manage 58 points in the tally from 22 matches. Still they have two matches left, which is not possible to overcome titleholders.
The unbeaten team displayed their best in the league continuously while Mohammedan stumbled several matches. The champions, Abahani, and runners-up Mohammedan will clash in their prestigious high-voltage match in the final round of the league scheduled for 31 May.
Abahani were little bit puzzled in their tension-packed match against underdog Farashganj Sporting Club, and they survived in the first half. Thereafter, they displayed their best scoring all four goals.
Defender Rajani Kanta Bharmon opened their account at the 60th minute over a long short from the right flank while his mate Abul Hossain doubled the lead seven minutes later.
After conceding two goals Farashganj became frustrated, and the giant took the chances and made two more goals. Striker Enamul Haque netted both at 80th and 89th minute.
