Stocks see negative in early trading

DHAKA: The prices of the shares on both bourses --Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) --witnessed negative trend in early trading on Tuesday (Mar 19) as some investors were on selling spree.

Within first one and half hours of trading, DSEX, the key index of the country’s prime bourse, declined 13.15 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 16.46 points at 11:54am.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 13.15 points or 0.23 per cent to stand at 5,591.75 points at 11:54am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 16.29 points to reach at 2015 points till then.

However, the DSE Shariah Index rose over 2.57 points or 0.20 percent to stand at 1285.58 points at that time.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1603.20 million on DSE till filling of the report.

British American Tobaco Bangladesh Company Lt was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 170.83 million changing hands.

Of the issues traded till then, 165 advanced, 104 declined, and 54 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw an upward trend till then with CASPI gaining 16.46 points or 0.09 percent to stand at 17128.78 points, also at 11:54am.

Of the issues traded till then, 67 gained, 49 declined and 24 issues remained unchanged with Tk 40.17 million in turnover.
