DHAKA: Key share price index in the country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- closed in a positive note on Tuesday (March 19).

The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 26.39 points or 0.47 percent to reach 5,631.29 at the close of trading. 

Of the issues traded, 233 gained, 81 declined and 32 remained unchanged.

Shares worth Tk 4,378 million changed hands at the DSE on the third trading session of the week.

British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company Limited topped the turnover leaders with 61,701 shares worth Tk 294.95 million traded.

Bangladesh Finance and Investment Co Ltd was also the biggest gainer of the day, posting 8.89 percent rise in its share prices, while Beach Hatchery Ltd was the worst loser, dropping by 10 percent.    

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also gained 63.90 percent or 0.37 to reach 17,209 points at the close today. 

Of the 234 issues traded, 136 advanced, 64 suffered loss and 34 remained unchanged. 

The value of the traded issues was Tk 124.52 million.
