 DSE, CSE witnessing fall

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with downward trend of share-price indices on Sunday (April 7).

Within first two hours of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse lost 7.96 points while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse fall 10.07 points.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 7.96 points or 0.14 percent to 5,451.94 points at 12:218pm.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 6.44 points or 0.50 percent to stand at 1,262.97 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed over 3.29 points or 0.16 percent to reach at 1,945 points.

Turnover stands at Tk 1,342.78 million on the DSE, riding on United Power Generation and Distribution Company and Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company. 

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 167.55 million changing hands till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 90 advanced, 179 declined and 55 issues remained unchanged. 

However, the port city bourse, the CSE, saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – declining 10.07 points or 0.29 percent to stand at 16,691.43 also at 12:43 pm.

Out of 164 issues traded, 40 gained, 95 declined and 29 remained unchanged.
