Stocks rebound from 28-month low

DHAKA: Stocks rebounded on Tuesday (April 30) after the benchmark index fell to 28-month lows on Monday as some optimistic investors showed their buying spree.

Trading on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) began with an uptrend and observed buying pressure until the end of the trading season.

DSE turnover has reached Tk 4151.73 million changed hands while previous session’s turnover was Tk 2986.10 million.

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, went up by 27.38 points or 0.52 percent, to reach 5202.85 at the close of day’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 6.32 points or 0.52 per cent to close at 1205.14 points. 

The DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 10.92 points or 0.59 per cent to close at 1846.67 points.

Of the issues traded, 194 advanced, 106 suffered loss and 47 remained unchanged.

National Polymer Industries topped in the chart of turnover leaders the at Dhaka bourse with share worth TK 166.17 million traded followed by  Brac Bank, Genex Infosys and Monno Ceramic.

Top five gainers at the DSE were NFML, ECABLES, PROVATIINS, METROSPIN and ADVENT.

The overall share index at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), CASPI gained 43.32 points or 0.27 percent to reach 15912.87 at close on Tuesday.

Of the 238 issues traded, 127 advanced, 89 suffered loss and 22 remained unchanged.       

The value of the traded issues at the port city bourse was TK 174.91 million on the day.
