 Both DSE, CSE witnessing fall

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with downward trend of share-price indices on Wednesday (May 8).

Within first two hours of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse lost 10.93 points while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse fall 10.76 points.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 10.93 points or 0.20 percent to 5279.06 points at 12:11pm.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 1.50 points or 0.12 percent to stand at 1220.96 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed over 0.11 points or 0.11 percent to reach at 1859.66 points.

Turnover stands at Tk 1,608.92 million on the DSE, riding on United Power Generation and Distribution Company and Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company. 

Monno Ceramic Industries Limited dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 105.48 million changing hands till then followed by Esquire Knit and Fortune Shoes. 

Of the issues traded till then, 111 advanced, 159 declined and 53 issues remained unchanged. 

However, the port city bourse, the CSE, saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – declining 10.76 points or 0.06 percent to stand at 16,241.79 also at 12:09 pm.

Out of 170 issues traded, 43 gained, 96 declined and 31 remained unchanged with shares worth Tk 61.85 million traded.
