Both DSE, CSE end in red

DHAKA: Key share price indices in the country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- closed the session in negative on Monday (May 13), the second trading day of the week.

DSE turnover has reached Tk 3050.31 million changed hands while Sunday’s turnover was Tk 3581.62 million.

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, shed over 26.09 points or 0.49 percent to reach 5247.82 points at the close of day’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 8.65 points or 0.70 per cent to close at 1210.36 points. 

The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 10.08 points or 0.54 per cent to close at 1836.39 points.

“The index rebounded at the start of the second hour but then again reversed its direction and kept falling throughout the day”, said LankaBangla Securities, in its daily analysis. 

Of the issues traded, 87 gained, 211 declined and 45 remained unchanged.

Fortune Shoes topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 96.26 million followed by Oimex Electrode and Esquire Knit.

The day’s top five gainers are ECABLES, GREENDELT, EBL1STMF, STANDBANKL and ICB3RDNRB while worst five losers are VAMLBDMF1, CNATEX, CITYBANK, MERCINS and NFML

The CSE key index, CSCX, also went down by 118.54 points or 0.73 percent to reach 16,055 points at the close today.

Of the 220 issues traded, 54 advanced, 147 suffered loss and 19 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was TK 158.47 million on Monday.
