DSE, CSE rebound from 4-day fall

DHAKA: Stocks rebounded on Thursday (May 16) after losing streak for the fourth straight sessions as some optimistic investors showed their buying appetite on sector specific stocks.

Market started earlier with a positive vibe and with little volatility closed in uptrend.

DSE turnover has reached Tk 2,906.82 million changed hands while Wednesday’s turnover was Tk 2,562.77 million. 

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, gained 34.75 points, or 0.66 per cent, to reach 5230.78 at the close of day’s trading.
 
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 3.34 points or 0.28 per cent to close at 1197.56. 

The DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 5.38 points or 0.29per cent to close at 1818.20 points. 

Of the issues traded, 199 gained, 89 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

“Market was in slight correction as most of the fundamental stocks were undervalued and value investors showed their buying appetite, said eblsecurites, in its daily analysis.

BRAC Bank Ltd topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 344.51 million followed by Fortune Shoes Ltd and IFIC Bank Ltd.  

The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were TRUSTBANK, UNITEDINS, BANKASIA, NHFIL and ICB3RDNRB while top five losers at the DSE were JAMUNABANK, PREMIERCEM, MEGHNAPET, OIMEX and POWERGRID.

The CSE key index, CSCX, also went up by 89.83 points or 0.56 percent to reach 16001.83 at the close today.

Of the 212 issues traded, 116 advanced, 64 suffered loss and 32 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 129.50 million on Thursday.
