DSE, CSE extend gaining spell

DHAKA: Stocks witnessed yet another gaining spell on Wednesday (May 29), the fourth sessions of the week, as investors’ optimism soared prior to the Eid-Ul-Fitr holidays. 

The key index of DSE, DSEX, went up by 25.43 points or 0.47 percent to close the day at 5,354.19 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 4.37 points or 0.36 percent to close at 1,212.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 6.89 points or 0.37 percent to finish at 1,868.

Of the issues traded, 174 gained, 117 declined and 56 remained unchanged.

Shares worth Tk 3,329.76 million changed hands at the DSE on the fourth trading session of this week.

“The core index remained upward throughout the session as enthusiastic behavior from the investors sustained and they kept buying fresh stocks to rebalance their portfolios on lucrative price level in sector specific stocks,” said EBL securities in its daily market analysis.

New Line Clothing Ltd dominated the DSE turnover chart with exchanging shares worth Tk 143.85 million followed by JMI Syringes and Medical Devices.

Top five gainers at DSE were JMISMDL, PURABIGEN, GLOBALINS, VAMLBDMF1 and FEDERALINS while top losers at DSE were BERGERPBL, RUPALILIFE, UNITEDAIR, CENTRALINS and NATLIFEINS.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also advanced 77.98 points or 0.47 percent to reach 16,338 points at the close today.

Of the 258 issues traded, 129 advanced, 87 suffered loss and 42 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 159.27 million.
