DHAKA: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said on Sunday (June 9) that gas price may rise in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.

The old gas lines here will be repaired, he said.

Besides, a project has been initiated to install pre-paid meter system in the connections for which Jica was called to assist, added the minister.

Nasrul Hamid disclosed the decisions while talking to reporters at the conference room of his ministry, at the secretariat Sunday (June 9).   

He said Tk 14,000 crore is being spent to import gas and more same amount of taka is required for which a balance is essential in the price.

The minister further said that gas and power sectors are doing comparatively well than the past.
