 DSE, CSE end with gain

DHAKA: The country's twin bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – finished the session in positive on Monday (June 10), following growing confidence among the investors.
 
The market opened on positive note and that trend sustained till the end of the session with modest volatility after Eid festival.

Shares worth Tk 4,848.92 million changed hands at the DSE on the day against Tk 3,046.69 million on Sunday, showing a mentionable increase in daily turnover.

The DSE benchmark index, DSEX went up by 28.62 points or 0.52 percent to reach 5,431.59 at the close of today’s trading.

Two other indices also ended higher. The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 11.94 point or 0.97 percent to close at 1,232.02.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 12.63 points or 0.66 percent to finish at 1,901.67.

“Investors kept buying shares on expectations over the upcoming budget declaration,” said eblsecurities, in its daily market analysis. 

United Power Generation and Distribution Company dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 233.64 million changed hands followed by Khulna Power Company Ltd and Brac Bank Ltd. 

Of the issues traded, 210 gained, 102 declined and 39 remained unchanged.

The CSE overall share index, CASPI gained 94.95 points or 0.57 percent to reach 16,614.58 at the close today.  

Of the 243 issues traded, 151 advanced, 67 suffered loss and 25 remained unchanged. 

The value of the traded issues was Tk 771.22 million on the day.
