Stocks extend gaining spell

DHAKA: Stocks witnessed yet another gaining spell on Tuesday (June 11), the third session of the week, as investors’ optimism soared prior to upcoming budget declaration. 

The key index of DSE, DSEX, went up by 44.38 points or 0.81 percent to close the day at 5475.98 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 12.51 points or 1.01 percent to close at 1,244.54.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 20.15 points or 1.06 percent to finish at 1,921.83.

Of the issues traded, 224 gained, 75 declined and 53 remained unchanged.

Shares worth Tk 5,786.84 million changed hands at the DSE on the fourth trading session of this week.

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd dominated the DSE turnover chart with exchanging shares worth Tk 295.95 million followed by JMI Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd and BBS Cables Ltd. 

Top five gainers at DSE were QUASEMIND, GLOBALINS, SONALIANSH, SEMLFBSLGF and NEWLINE while top five losers at DSE were VAMLBDMF1, IMAMBUTTON, HWAWELLTEX, DACCADYE    and MIDASFIN

The CSE overall share index, CASPI also advanced 77.98 points or 0.47 percent to reach 16,773 points at the close today.

Of the 268 issues traded, 175 advanced, 57 suffered loss and 36 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 489.92 million.
