    DSE, CSE open on upbeat note

DHAKA: Country’s stock markets have been witnessing upward trends in its price indices on Wednesday (June 12), the fourth trading session of the week.

DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, went up by 11.39 points or 0.20 percent to stand at 5,464.58 after the first one hour of day’s trading.

However, the two other indices also edged higher.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.54 points or 0.20 percent to stand at 1241.99 points at 11:47am. 

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 5.58 points or 0.29 percent to stand at 1,916.24.

Trade deals stood at 44,931 with volume of transactions at Tk 1,742.44 million.

Of the issues traded, 93 advanced, 192 declined and 46 remained unchanged.

BBS Cables Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 152:82 million having changed hands followed by united power generation and Distribution Company ltd UPDGCL, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.

Chittagong stocks, however, saw downward trends with the CSE Selective Categories Index gained 58.02 points or 0.34 percent to stand at 16,715.41 points at 11:42am.

Out of the 162 issues traded, 41 gained, 94 declined and 27 remained unchanged with turnover worth of Tk 60.85 million.
