DSE extend gaining spell, CSE fall

DHAKA: Stocks at the prime bourse witnessed another uptrend session on Wednesday (June 19), extending the gaining spell for second consecutive sessions in a row.

Shares worth Tk 5,540 million changed hands at the DSE on the fourth trading session of this week.

The key index of DSE, DSEX, went up by 11.16 points or 0.20 percent to close the day at 5,411 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index saw gain of 2.78 points or 0.22 percent to close at 1,235.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also rose over 2.70 points or 0.14 percent to finish at 1897.81.

Of the issues traded, 124 gained, 174 declined and 53 remained unchanged.

United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd dominated the DSE turnover chart with exchanging shares worth Tk 213.02 million traded followed by Eastern Insurance Company Ltd and JMI Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd.

Top five gainers at DSE were RUPALILIFE    , SUNLIFEINS, EASTERNINS, PRIMELIFE, and EASTLAND while top five losers at DSE were NORTHRNINS, GLOBALINS, BEACHHATCH, NITOLINS and PRIMETEX.

However, most of the sectors experienced price correction today.

But, the CSE overall share index, CASPI declined 9.58 points or 0.05 percent to reach 16,565.71 points at the close today.

Of the 267 issues traded, 104 advanced, 141 suffered loss and 22 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 354.76 million.
