DSE, CSE indices see fall

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s both bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange - is underway with downward trends in early hours on Monday (June 24) as cautious investors were on selling spree.

After first one and half an hour of day’s trading, DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, went down by 17.25 points or 0.32 percent to reach 5366.64 points at 12:06 pm.

The two other indices also edged lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also lost 7.66 points or 0.40 percent to reach at 1889.05 points. 

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also shed over 3.79 points or -0.30 percent to stand at 1227.63 points.

Turnover, an important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1,248.61 million riding on United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd and Sinobangla Industries Ltd.

Of the issues traded till then, 111 advanced, 175 declined, and 54 remained unchanged.

United power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 80.17 million with changing hands till then followed by Sinobangla Industries Ltd and R N Spinning Mills Ltd.

The port city bourse – Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – also witnessed downward trend in early hours with its Selective Category Index losing 83.12 points or 0.50 percent to 16,426 also at 12:04 pm.

Of the 195 issues traded till then, 43 gained, 105 declined and 47 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 454.99 million.
