Both DSE, CSE end week in red

DHAKA: Key share price indices in the country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- closed the week in negative note on Thursday (July 11), the last trading day of the week.

Market analyst said the index started with a positive movement in the first hour of trade. After that it lost its momentum and showed negative movement till the last hour of trade. 

DSE turnover has reached Tk 3510.83 million changed hands while Wednesday’s turnover was Tk 4088.81 million.

DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, lost 8.32 points or 0.15 percent to reach 5,222.30 points at the close of day’s trading.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 3.66 points or 0.30 per cent to close at 1194.60. The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 3.19 points or 0.17 per cent to close at 1857.71 points.

Of the issues traded, 108 gained, 219 declined and 26 remained unchanged.

National Life Insurance Company Ltd topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 188.94 million followed by Federal Insurance Company ltd and Grameenphone Ltd.

SEML FBSL Growth Fund dominated the gainers chart, posting a gain of 10 per cent while United Airways (BD) Ltd was the day’s worst loser, losing 10 per cent.

The CSE key index, CSCX, also went down by 57.37 points or 0.35 percent to reach 15972.90- at the close today.

Of the 263 issues traded, 64 advanced, 175 suffered loss and 24 remained unchanged.

The value of the traded issues was Tk 122.11 million on Thursday.
