Minister asks to keep pry school open

DHAKA: Primary and mass education minister Mostafizur Rahman on Tuesday ordered authorities concerned not to close the primary schools even for a single day amid the hartal and indefinite nationwide blockade.

He further said the educational institutions cannot be closed by blasting bombs.

The minister made the assertions in a laptop distribution ceremony to government primary schools at Directorate of Primary Education in city’s Mirpur area.

Mentioning that the number of terrors is not large, Mostafizur Rahman also said, not a single primary school out of 64,000 schools across the country is closed as students will not get back the time that is passing away.

Member of the parliamentary committee on primary and mass education ministry AKM Zahangir Hossain said daily necessaries along with education sector have become the target of hartal supporters.

“We cannot allow this situation to continue,” he added.

With director general of Directorate of Primary Education M Jahangir in the chair, another member of the parliamentary committee Umme Razia, and secretary of the ministry Kazi AKhter Hossain, and additional director general of the directorate Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal among others addressed the program.
