Four passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed when a train hit the vehicle at a level crossing in Laksam upazila in Cumilla on Tuesday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Alim of Laksam Railway Police Station confirmed the matter.

He said the Laksam-bound Noakhali Express train hit the auto-rickshaw around 11:30am, leaving three passengers dead on the spot and some others injured.

The injured were taken to a hospital nearby, he said, adding that another one succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment there. 

"We are going to the spot to know the exact situation of the incident," the SI added.
