A fire broke out in the new building of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday (Feb 5).

The fire broke out at the entrance of the Dialysis Unit in the new building of the hospital this afternoon. 

After being panicked, hundreds of patients came out of the hospital following the incident.

Senior Station Officer of Fire Service Shaheen Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said being informed, two firefighting units reached the hospital premises. Later, they were able to douse the fire. 

The fire originated from an AC machine of the kidney department on the fourth floor of the new building, he said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in the incident, he added.
