DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday directed to hold the elections of Bangladesh Bar Council on August 13.
A four member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order.
The court also asked the Bar Council chairman, also attorney general, and secretary to publish the voter list on July 12 for the elections.
Authorities shifted the date of the Bar Council elections from May 20 to May 27 amid allegations of complications over the voter list.
On May 21, the High Court (HC) postponed the bar council polls for three months after a writ petition. On that day, Bar Council and three candidates appealed to the HC to stay the order.
On May 24, the four member bench led by Chief Justice SK Sinha fixed Thursday as the date of hearing of the plea.
