HABIGANJ: Two people were killed as a passenger bus hit another one on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shaistaganj upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday morning (August 04).

Some 10 passengers were also injured in the incident that occurred around 11:00 am near Shaistaganj Golchattar area.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the injured persons were sent to different local hospitals for treatment. 

Shaistaganj highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Toufiqul Islam Towfiq confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

He said: “According to eyewitnesses, a Sylhet-bound Adnan & Arida Paribahan bus from Cumilla hit another Sylhet-bound Raja & Sons Paribahan bus from Dhaka, leaving the former’s helper and a pedestrian dead on the spot and 10 others injured.”

On information, police rescued the injured and sent them to hospitals. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, he added.
