A Cox’s Bazar court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrants against nine persons, including Pradeep Kumar Shaha, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, in a case filed with the police station in connection with the killing of Maj (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan. 

Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farha of Cox's Bazar Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court issued the warrant soon after the case was recorded with the police station around 10:30pm last night.

The case documents were sent to the police station around 8:45pm yesterday, Mohammad Ashek Elahi Shahjahan Noori, administrative official of Cox's Bazar Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.

Earlier yesterday, Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farha directed Teknaf Police Station to record the case. She also ordered the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to investigate the incident and submit a report on the progress of investigation within seven days.

Later, government withdraw the officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradip Kumar Saha over the killing.

Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed was killed in police 'shootout' at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf on Friday night.

Two people were arrested and two separate cases were filed in this regard, Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain said on Saturday.

Besides, the authorities on Sunday suspended 21 police officers, including the in-charge of Baharchhara police outpost.
