Rail communication between Khulna and other parts of the country including the capital was restored after 10 hours of disruption caused by a derailment.
Train services resumed on Khulna route at 11:45am on Tuesday.
Earlier around 2:00 am, train communication was snapped following a head-on collision between two freight trains at Kotchandpur Sardar intersection in Jhenaidah.
The accident took place as an oil-laden train from Parbatipur and a freight train from Jashore defied signal.
On information, members of Kotchandpur Fire Service rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. However, no casualty was reported.
Kotchandpur station manager Golam Mostafa told Banglanews: "A relief train from Ishwardi put the derailed compartment back on the track restoring train communication around 12pm today."
