Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said there is no scope to influence the investigation into a case filed against Irfan Salim, who was arrested for attacking Navy officer and his wife in Dhaka.

Shafiqul Islam said it reporters while attending a programme on the Quick Response Team to protect women and children from any danger at Tejgaon police station complex on Tuesday noon.

Mentioning that the case is being handled with utmost importance, the commissioner said: “Any attempt to influence the investigation will not work. We will complete the investigation and submit report shortly.”

Earlier on Monday, RAB arrested Irfan Salim, son of MP Haji Salim, and his bodyguard in a raid at his residence in Old Dhaka after a case had been filed for attacking Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan and his wife in Dhanmondi on Sunday night.
