Blogger Oyasiqur murder verdict deferred till Nov 4 Blogger Oyasiqur Rahman Babu

A Dhaka court on Tuesday fixed November 4 for delivering its judgment in a case filed over the murder of blogger Oyasiqur Rahman Babu on March 30, 2015.

Judge Md Rabiul Alam of Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court-3 set the new date.

Earlier on October 3, the court set October 27 for the verdict on completion of the closing argument hearing of both prosecution and defence in the case.

On September 21, the prosecution concluded arguments and sought capital punishment for all five accused. 

Of the accused, Zikrullah alias Hasan, Ariful Islam alias Mushfiq and Md Saiful Islam are now behind bars, while two others -- Akram Hossain Hasib alias Abdullah and Junayed alias Taher -- are absconding.

Earlier on July 20, 2016, the court farmed charges against five members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in the case. 

The testimony begun on August 25. Court recorded statements of 24 prosecution witnesses in the case.

On September 2, 2015, DB inspector Moshiur Rahman, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet against the five accused to the Dhaka CMM court.

On March 30, 2015, travel agency executive Oyasiqur, 27, was hacked to death by three assailants on Dipika Mosque Lane of Begunbari, close to Tejgaon Textile Engineering University, when he was going to office in Motijheel.
