A supporter of councillor candidate was killed in a clash during the ongoing fifth phase municipality elections in Saidpur of Nilphamari. 

The incident occurred outside Saidpur Women Degree College voting center on Sunday noon.

The deceased was identified as- Choton, 40, a supporter of councillor candidate Nazrul Islam Royel 

Saidpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasnat confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

Quoting locals, he said the clash broke out between supporters of two rival candidates outside the polling station. Choton was severely injured in the clash and quickly taken to hospital where he died shortly after admittance.
