PM’s deputy press secretary tenders resignation Ashraful Alam Khokan

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s deputy press secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan has submitted his resignation.

Khokan posted a status in this regard on his verified Facebook page, according to media reports.

In his status, he wrote: “I have got a scholarship from Hofstra University of the United States of America (USA) for further study in journalism. The matter was confirmed by the university in September last year. I did not want to miss the opportunity as I had worked in media. I would like to continue my work in this sector. On the other hand, the premier’s weakness in higher education is known to all.  She has educated all the family members with higher education. She has also given me the opportunity in terms of my application. I convey my gratitude to the leader.”

Khokan, former general secretary of Dhaka University Journalists Association, has been working as the PM’s deputy press secretary for over seven years.

He was first appointed as the PM's deputy press secretary in 2013 for one year. Later his tenure was extended.
